Before you can make the most out of nap time, you have to prepare for that sudden peace and quiet. It sounds silly,
So far I’ve only made it a habit to review books I’m totally in love with! Sooner or later I may have to review a book or two that isn’t completely perfect. But not today!
I love browsing through all the best selling books and all the hidden gems in any and every book store. That’s how I stumble upon so many of my favorites. That’s actually how I found this one, browsing book shelves at Barnes and Noble while little Joy played at the train table. That girl loves her trains. Some day I’d love to be one of those bloggers that gets sent free books just to write about. That would be a perfect blog perk.
So now that I have Charming I’m always on the look out for exciting and interesting books for adventurous little boys as well as little girls. When I saw the title Whose Tools? and pulled the thick board book from the shelf I wondered if they would skim all the basic tools or really get interesting about it.
I was surprised and very happy to see a wide range of tools that I knew and others that I caught myself thinking, So thats what that’s called. Like the jointer, a tool used by masons.
Toni Buzzeo covers 24 different tools and 6 different types of workers (carpenters, roofers, electricians, plumbers and painters). You can “play whose tools are those?”, look at all the tools and make guesses together, then open the flap to see the workers and how they use all of those tools. Honestly, this would be a great daddy read for all those dads who want to share their own interests with their kids.
I think it would be fun for a dad working with tools to make it a game. “Which tool am I holding?” Then your little tag along could get their kid “tool manual” and feel very proud of themselves for knowing what it was and what it does. Fun fun!
This is a great educational and entertaining book and I’m definitely going to add it to my children’s library, along with a companion book by Toni Buzzeo entitled “Who’s Trucks?”
The author, Toni Buzzeo posts amazing free resources that go hand in hand with this book to continue the fun and learning. Including, What Happens Next? – Activity Sheet 1, What Happens Next? – Activity Sheet 2, Who’s Tools? Who’s Trucks? Teaching Guide, Who’s Tools? Who’s Trucks? Teaching Guide Activity Sheets and more!
